    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Distinguish from Vitex trifolia (which has 3 leaflets). Exceptional maternal, postpartum, and pediatric safety profile. Safe in lactation. CONTRAINDICATED in early pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Bronchial asthma and acute spastic bronchitis (PDE4 inhibition and leukotriene D4 antagonism via Casticin and Chrysosplenol D), postpartum uterine recovery (Nasi Lemuni), and allergic rhinitis.

    Casticin (蔓荆子黄素) >= 0.50%-1.20%, Chrysosplenol D & Sabinene >= 15.0% (HPLC Philippine Pharmacopoeia / GlobinMed)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Casticin and chrysosplenol D inhibit PDE4 and block calcium channels in airway smooth muscle, producing sustained bronchodilation. 2. Lignans and flavonoids promote myometrial involution.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SACRED NORTHERN MALAYSIAN NASI LEMUNI CONFINEMENT RECIPE: 100 g fresh leaves blended and strained for green juice, cooked with 2 cups jasmine rice, coconut milk, lemongrass, ginger, and fenugreek. Lagundi cough syrup: 15-30 g dried leaves boiled in 500 mL water.
