Traditional Edict
Dispels wind-heat, diffuses the Lung to calm wheezing, clears the head and eyes, and transforms dampness to relieve joint pain. Premier ASEAN botanical (Lagundi) for cough, bronchial asthma, and Nasi Lemuni postpartum recovery rice.
Cautions & Contraindications
- High safety in clinical syrups. Contraindicated in dry spasmodic cough due to Yin deficiency without phlegm-dampness.

- Acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, upper respiratory viral infections, tension headaches, and premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

Mechanism & Phytochemistry
1. Casticin and chrysosplenol D selectively relax histamine- and acetylcholine-induced tracheal smooth muscle spasms, downregulate EPO, and suppress NF-kB and IL-4/IL-5/IL-13. 2. Labdane diterpenoids exert central/peripheral analgesia against migraines. 3. Volatile sabinene and cineole promote expectorant clearance.
Preparation & Dosage
Dried 5-foliolate leaves in decoction: 10-20 g daily. Registered Lagundi cough syrup: 300-600 mg standardized extract. Culinary Nasi Lemuni (rice cooked with fresh leaf juice and ginger).
