    Pale Catechu / Gambier (Gambir / Bing Lang Gao / Zong Er Cha). Concentrated dried golden-cinnamon cubes. Supreme Sovereign for Oral Mucosal Ulcers: dusting pure Gambir powder rapidly precipitates proteins to seal canker sores in 24h, stanches bleeding gums, binds dysentery.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Internal ingestion must not exceed 3.0 g daily (prevents gastric irritation and spastic constipation). CONTRAINDICATED internally in spastic constipation and iron-deficiency anemia (chelates iron). Safe for topical oral use in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS / canker sores), chronic bleeding marginal gingivitis and periodontitis, superficial thermal burns, weeping eczema, and chronic watery diarrhea.

    Quality Markers

    (+)-Catechin / d-Catechin >= 30.0%-50.0%, Catechutannic Acid >= 20.0%-35.0% & Total Tannins >= 65.0% (HPLC ChP/BP standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. (+)-Catechin (>=30%) binds mucosal proteins, forming an insoluble protective eschar over ulcer beds that abolishes pain. 2. Inhibits P. gingivalis and host MMP-8/9 to halt gingival bleeding. 3. Enterocyte tight junction closure.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN APHTHOUS ULCER DUSTING POWDER (Er Cha San): Pure Gambir (10 g) and Borneol (0.5 g) ground into superfine 200-mesh powder; dusted directly onto mouth ulcers 3-4x daily (seals in 48h). Gingivitis paste: kneaded with coconut oil. Internal decoction: 1.5-3.0 g.
