    Wild Indigo / Sarphonka (Pokok Nila Hutan / Hui Mao Dou / Plihantari). Silvery silky leaves and purple butterfly flowers. Undisputed Emperor of Hepatic & Splenic Regeneration (Plihantari = 'Enemy of Spleen Disorders'): reverses liver cirrhosis, shrinks splenomegaly, clears jaundice.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Contains rotenoid-type flavonoids; adhere strictly to therapeutic dosages (do not exceed 45 g daily). CONTRAINDICATED in active pregnancy (emmenagogue dynamics). Safe during lactation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Liver cirrhosis and chronic viral hepatitis (suppressing hepatic stellate cell collagen and reducing ALT/AST), splenomegaly, Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH), and acute icteric jaundice.

    Quality Markers

    Tephrosin, Pongaglabrone, Lanceolatins A & B, Rutin >= 1.50% & Total Rotenoid Flavonoids >= 2.20% (HPLC Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Pongaglabrone and flavonoids inhibit TGF-b1/Smad activation in hepatic stellate cells, halting liver fibrosis. 2. Upregulates hepatic glutathione (GSH) and superoxide dismutase. 3. Splenic anti-inflammatory.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN SARPHONKA HEPATOPROTECTIVE DECOCTION: 15 to 30 g dried whole herb boiled with Phyllanthus niruri (Dukung Anak) and Curcuma xanthorrhiza (Temulawak) in 600 mL water for 25 min; taken warm twice daily for liver cirrhosis or hepatitis. Powder: 3-6 g.
