    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Slice fresh rootstocks before drying (becomes stone-hard). High clinical safety profile. CONTRAINDICATED during active pregnancy for high-dose decoctions (blood-activating dynamics). Safe in lactation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease (PID / pelvic connective tissue thickening), chronic adnexitis, cervical intraepithelial inflammation, secondary dysmenorrhea, and gouty arthritis.

    Quality Markers

    Dioscin (薯蓣皂苷) >= 0.80%, Gracillin, Sieboldogenin & Resveratrol >= 0.20% (HPLC Chinese Pharmacopoeia standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Dioscin inhibits TGF-b1/Smad3 signaling in pelvic peritoneal fibroblasts, suppressing collagen hyperaccumulation to dissolve pelvic adhesion bands. 2. Resveratrol downregulates TNF-a/IL-6. 3. Direct anti-Chlamydial membrane lysis.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN JIN GANG TENG CHRONIC PID DECOCTION: 30 to 60 g dried rhizome chips boiled with Bai Hua She She Cao (30 g) and Dan Shen in 800 mL water for 35 min; taken warm twice daily for 20-30 days. Gynecological syrup: 10-15 g twice daily.
