    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Bitter and cold; contraindicated in Spleen-Stomach deficiency cold diarrhea, severe anemia, and pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Colorectal adenocarcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, lung cancer, acute appendicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and snakebites.

    Scutellarin (野黄芩苷) >= 0.20% & Total Flavonoids (Chinese Pharmacopoeia)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Scutellarin and neo-clerodane diterpenoids (scutebarbatines) induce Caspase-3/9 apoptosis and inhibit PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway in cancer lines. 2. Downregulates VEGF, suppressing tumor angiogenesis. 3. Inhibits NF-kB and COX-2.

    Preparation & Dosage

    Dried whole herb in decoction: 15-30 g daily (up to 60 g in oncology regimens). Fresh herb crushed for topical poultices over boils.
