    Sacred Ashoka (Gapis / Asoka / Wuyouhua). Golden-orange to vermilion flower clusters and dark channeled bark. Supreme Queen of Ayurvedic Gynecology (Ashokarishta): cures menorrhagia, arrests uterine flooding (Beng Lou), dissolves fibroids, relieves menstrual pain.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • CONTRAINDICATED during active pregnancy (uterine-contracting dynamics). High gynecological and clinical safety profile. Contraindicated in severe spastic constipation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB), menorrhagia (excessive menstrual bleeding reduction via myometrial arteriole constriction), pelvic endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and leukorrhea.

    Quality Markers

    Catechin (儿茶素) >= 1.50%, Saracin & Procyanidin Polymers >= 12.0% (HPLC Indian Pharmacopoeia standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Catechin and saracin stimulate myometrial smooth muscle a1-adrenergic tone, mechanically compressing open endometrial spiral arterioles to halt bleeding. 2. Phytosterols act as SERMs to inhibit fibroid growth. 3. Endometrial anti-inflammatory.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN ASHOKA UTERINE TONIC & MENORRHAGIA DECOCTION (Ashokarishta Decoction): 20 to 30 g dried bark chips boiled with Xian He Cao (Agrimonia) and Bai Shao in 600 mL water for 25 min; taken warm twice daily during menses. Flower tea for dysuria: 10 g.
