    Traditional Edict

    Cherokee Rose (Jin Ying Zi / Golden Cherry). Spiny golden urn-shaped hip fruits. Sovereign chief monarch for consolidating Kidney-Essence: cures nocturnal emissions, spermatorrhea, daytime urinary frequency, enuresis, chronic watery diarrhea, and leukorrhea.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • PAOZHI MANDATE: Always scrape away and remove internal stiff golden-yellow bristles/hairs and hard seeds before use (internal hairs irritate throat). CONTRAINDICATED in acute urinary tract infections with damp-heat.

    Clinical Applications

    • Nocturnal emissions and spermatorrhea from Kidney deficiency, pediatric nocturnal enuresis and geriatric urinary incontinence, chronic non-specific diarrhea, and dysfunctional uterine bleeding.

    Quality Markers

    Laevigatins A & B, Agrimoniin, Tormentic Acid & Total Condensed Ellagitannins >= 10.0% (HPLC ChP standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Laevigatins and hydrolyzable ellagitannins cross-link smooth muscle proteins and enhance urinary bladder sphincter tone, restricting urinary leakage. 2. Astringent mucosal barrier for chronic diarrhea. 3. Tormentic acid anti-inflammatory.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN JIN YING ZI KIDNEY-CONSOLIDATING DECOCTION: 15 to 30 g dried depilated fruit hips boiled with Gorgon fruit (Qian Shi) and Cuscuta (Tu Si Zi) in 600 mL water for 25 min; taken warm twice daily. Jin Ying Zi concentrated herbal paste (Gao): 10-15 g.
