    Traditional Edict

    Blood-Pressure Wood (Jiang Ya Mu / Luo Fu Mu / Pule Putih). Whorled leaves and small white flowers. Premier Lingnan antihypertensive monarch (core source of Jiang Ya Pian): clears Liver fire, subdues Liver-Yang headaches, lowers blood pressure, calms arrhythmias.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Adhere strictly to therapeutic dosage (do not exceed 15 g daily of crude root). CONTRAINDICATED in severe bradycardia, active peptic ulcer disease, and depression. CONTRAINDICATED IN PREGNANCY.

    Clinical Applications

    • Stage 1 and 2 essential hypertension, hypertensive headache and dizziness, cardiac paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, and acute tonsillitis/pharyngitis.

    Quality Markers

    Rauwolscine (萝芙素 / a-Yohimbine) >= 0.50%, Reserpine >= 0.10% & Total Alkaloids >= 1.20%-2.20% (HPLC ChP standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Rauwolscine acts as a potent selective a2-adrenoceptor antagonist, dilating peripheral resistance arteries without causing central sedation. 2. Reserpine depletes sympathetic monoamine vesicles. 3. Ajmaline myocardial sodium channel blockade.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN JIANG YA MU HYPERTENSIVE DECOCTION: 6 to 12 g dried sliced root chips boiled in 500 mL water for 25 min; taken warm twice daily under blood pressure monitoring. Standardized Jiang Ya Pian tablets: 1-2 tablets (equivalent to 10 mg total alkaloids) 3x daily.

    • 1. The Sovereign Lingnan Antihypertensive Synergy (Jiang Ya Pian Variant) with Prunella vulgaris (Xia Ku Cao) and Scutellaria baicalensis. 2. Liver-Fire Calming Tea with Chrysanthemum.
