    Coastal Premna (Buas-buas Laut / Agnimantha / San Xu Dou Fu Chai). Aromatic blunt leaves and flat corymbs. Undisputed monarch in Royal Malay Confinement: simmered into fish soup (Gulai Buas-buas) to ignite copious breastmilk, expel womb wind, purge lochia.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Add leaves towards the final stages of soup boiling (<20 min) to preserve volatile lactogenic terpenes. Contraindicated during active pregnancy in high doses (commence strictly postpartum). Safe in lactation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Postpartum lactation failure and hypogalactia (elevating serum prolactin and oxytocin responsiveness), postpartum uterine subinvolution and lochial stasis, functional flatulence, and chronic knee osteoarthritis.

    Quality Markers

    Verbascoside (Acteoside) >= 1.00%, Premnazole & Premnafuran Diterpenoids (HPLC MHM standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Verbascoside and flavonoids stimulate anterior pituitary prolactin (PRL) synthesis and mammary oxytocin receptors, doubling milk volume. 2. Premnazole downregulates synovial PGE2 and COX-2 for arthritic pain. 3. Carminative spasmolysis.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN MALAY CONFINEMENT LACTOGENIC BROTH: 50 to 100 g fresh tender leaves simmered with fresh Snakehead fish (Ikan Haruan), Temulawak, and ginger in 1 L water for 25 min; taken daily during postpartum confinement. Dried leaf tea: 15-20 g.
