Cautions & Contraindications
- Cold-sour nature. CONTRAINDICATED in Spleen-Stomach deficiency cold watery diarrhea without heat signs. Do not combine with raw turtle meat (classical incompatibility). Safe in culinary amounts.

- Acute bacillary dysentery (Shigella), acute infectious gastroenteritis, Type 2 Diabetes mellitus (insulin sensitization), bleeding internal hemorrhoids, and atopic dermatitis.

Mechanism & Phytochemistry
1. High plant ALA Omega-3 and betacyanins suppress enterocyte NF-kB, COX-2, and TNF-a, halting mucosal inflammation in dysentery. 2. Bactericidal lysis against Shigella and E. coli. 3. Norepinephrine constricts mucosal hemorrhoidal vessels.
Preparation & Dosage
THE SOVEREIGN MA CHI XIAN DYSENTERY CLEARANCE DECOCTION: 30 to 60 g fresh herb (or 15-30 g dried) boiled in 500 mL water for 15 min; taken warm twice daily for dysentery and diarrhea. Fresh blanched salad: 100-200 g. Burn/boil poultice: 50 g.
