    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Wilt or crush fronds lightly to release bound coumarins for optimal aromatic potency. High clinical and cosmetic safety profile. Contraindicated in active profuse menorrhagia.

    Clinical Applications

    • Postpartum confinement rehabilitation and maternal muscle toning (Mandi Herba aromatherapeutic hydrotherapy), lochial stasis, rheumatoid arthritis, lumbar myofascial pain, and stress insomnia.

    Quality Markers

    Coumarin (Vanilla-tonka aroma) >= 0.50%-1.20%, 20-Hydroxyecdysone >= 0.30% & Ecdysterone (HPLC/GC-MS)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Enzymatically cleaved natural coumarins promote peripheral cutaneous vasodilation and muscle relaxation, relieving postpartum chills and pain. 2. 20-Hydroxyecdysone stimulates protein synthesis in myofibrils. 3. Aromatherapeutic GABA-A anxiolysis.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN ROYAL MALAY CONFINEMENT STEAM BATH (Mandi Herba Paku Wangi Diraja): 100 to 200 g fresh bruised Paku Wangi fronds boiled in 10 L water with Serai Wangi and Pandan for 20 min; used for maternal body steaming and bathing. Decoct: 15-30 g.

    • 1. The Sovereign Royal Malay Postpartum Confinement Bath (Mandi Herba) with Cymbopogon winterianus (Serai Wangi) and Blumea balsamifera (Sembung). 2. Anti-Rheumatic Poultice with Zingiber montanum.
