    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Ensure seeds retain delicate translucent silvery-white wings (discard blackened seeds). High clinical and vocal-care safety profile. Contraindicated in cold watery diarrhea without heat signs.

    • Acute and chronic laryngitis with hoarseness, vocal cord nodules and polyps, functional aphonia, peptic and duodenal ulcer disease (mucosal cytoprotection), and GERD acid reflux.

    Quality Markers

    Baicalein (黄芩素) >= 1.00%, Chrysin >= 0.50% & Oroxylin A >= 0.50% (Chinese Pharmacopoeia standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Baicalein and oroxylin A downregulate iNOS, IL-1b, and TNF-a in vocal fold epithelium, dissipating Reinke's space edema and preventing nodular scarring. 2. Chrysin stimulates gastric PGE2 and mucus secretion. 3. Oroxylin A cancer apoptosis.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN VOCAL-OPENING & HOARSENESS TEA (Mu Hu Die Kai Yin Cha): 3 to 6 g dried silvery winged seeds steeped with Pang Da Hai (Sterculia), Platycodon, and Luo Han Guo in 400 mL hot water in thermos; sipped throughout day. Gastric ulcer decoction: 6-9 g.
