    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Authenticate presence of snowy-white calycine flags (Yu Ye). High clinical and dietary safety profile with centuries of daily cooling tea use in Malaysia and Southern China. Contraindicated in cold watery diarrhea.

    Clinical Applications

    • Acute upper respiratory viral influenza (fever and pharyngitis), acute follicular tonsillitis, chronic laryngitis with hoarseness, acute bronchitis with yellow sputum, and summer-heatstroke.

    Quality Markers

    Mussaendoside A-C >= 0.50%, Shanzhiside Methyl Ester & Total Flavonoids >= 1.50% (Chinese Pharmacopoeia standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Mussaendosides and shanzhiside downregulate IL-1b, IL-6, and PGE2 across pharyngeal keratinocytes, extinguishing burning erythema and restoring voice in laryngitis. 2. Antipyretic hypothalamic reset. 3. Anti-Streptococcal membrane lysis.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN LINGNAN JADE LEAF SUMMER-HEAT COOLING TEA (Yu Ye Jin Hua Liangcha): 20 to 30 g dried leaves, stems, and white flags boiled with Jin Yin Hua, Bu Zha Ye, and Mint in 1.2 L water for 20 min. Bronchitis decoction: 15-30 g with Luo Han Guo.
