Mechanism & Phytochemistry

1. Damnacanthal is a potent inhibitor of p56lck and c-Met tyrosine kinases, reverting oncogenic K-Ras transformed carcinoma cells to normal morphology and inducing apoptosis. 2. Anthraquinones stimulate a1-adrenergic and oxytocic receptors, elevating rhythmic postpartum uterine contractions. 3. Rubiadin disrupts S. aureus and H. pylori.

Preparation & Dosage

Dried root segments decocted 20-30 minutes: 6-15 g daily. Fresh leaves wilted over flame (Daun Layu) and wrapped over lower abdomen for postpartum lochia. Standardized extract: 200-400 mg.
