Traditional Edict

Ceylon Slitwort. Globose pom-pom white flower clusters. Dispels wind-heat, unblocks nasal orifices, relieves severe sinusitis (Resdung), kills fungal parasites (Kurap/Kudis), and expels worms.

Cautions & Contraindications

Use fresh or gently shade-dried herb (heat destroys volatile cineole). Contraindicated in dry spasmodic cough without phlegm. Caution in pregnancy.

Clinical Applications

Chronic rhinosinusitis, allergic rhinitis with nasal congestion, tinea dermatophytosis (Trichophyton, Microsporum), scabies (Sarcoptes), atopic pruritus, and helminthiasis.

Leucasperones A & B (Diterpenes) & Apigenin-7-O-glucoside >= 0.50% (HPLC MHM standard)

Mechanism & Phytochemistry

1. Leucasperones potently inhibit 5-LOX, downregulating LTC4/D4 in nasal mucosa to reduce edema and open sinuses. 2. 1,8-Cineole disrupts fungal cell membranes and kills scabies mites. 3. Paralyzes intestinal nematodes.

Preparation & Dosage

The Sovereign Ketumbit Sinus & Ringworm Paste: 20-30 g fresh leaves crushed with lime juice/coconut oil applied over ringworm or forehead. Rhinosinusitis steam inhalation (Wap Ketumbit): 50 g boiled in 1 L water. Decoct: 10-20 g.
