    Garden Balsam / Bone-Penetrating Herb (Tou Gu Cao / Bunga Keembung). Orchid-like spurred flowers and explosive capsules. Smashes stagnant blood, unblocks amenorrhea, dissolves lodged fish bones in throat (Ruan Hua Yu Gu), and destroys fungal nail onychomycosis (Hui Zhi Jia).

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • CRITICAL PREGNANCY WARNING: Strong oxytocic blood-breaking action causes uterine contractions and abortion. ABSOLUTELY CONTRAINDICATED IN PREGNANCY. Contraindicated during normal menstruation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Onychomycosis (fungal nail ringworm), throat fish-bone lodging (softening and dissolution), amenorrhea from blood stasis, severe dysmenorrhea, rheumatoid joint stiffness, and venomous snakebites.

    2-Methoxy-1,4-naphthoquinone (MNQ) >= 0.50%, Lawsone (Henna red) >= 0.30% & Balsaminones A & B (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. 2-Methoxy-1,4-naphthoquinone (MNQ) and lawsone potently disrupt ergosterol synthesis and mitochondrial respiration in Trichophyton rubrum (MIC 1.25 ug/mL), penetrating keratinized nail plates. 2. Organic acids soften calcium phosphate in fish bones. 3. Strong oxytocic uterine stimulation.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN ONYCHOMYCOSIS FUNGAL NAIL PASTE: 20 g fresh red flowers pounded with 1 g alum (Bai Fan), bound over thickened fungal nail for 2 hours daily (dyes nail red and eradicates fungus in 3-4 weeks). Fish-Bone Dissolving Decoction: 6-9 g seeds/stems simmered with vinegar.

    • 1. The Sovereign Onychomycosis Nail-Clearing Alum Paste with Bai Fan and Vinegar. 2. Classical Bone-Penetrating Anti-Rheumatic Wash (Tou Gu Cao Tang) with Clematis chinensis (Wei Ling Xian).
