    Traditional Edict

    Broken Copper Coin / Morning Dew Pegaga (Pegaga Embun / Tian Hu Sui). Miniature coin leaves capturing morning dew. Drains Liver fire, clears acute viral hepatitis jaundice (Tui Huang), dissolves cataracts and corneal nebulae, and unblocks cystitis.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Wash thoroughly in running water to remove lawn soil. High dietary safety as therapeutic Ulam. Contraindicated in cold deficiency watery diarrhea without heat signs.

    Clinical Applications

    • Acute icteric hepatitis B/E (normalizing ALT/AST/bilirubin), non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), superficial corneal nebulae/uveitis, acute cystitis, pediatric febrile pharyngitis, and herpes zoster.

    Quality Markers

    Hyperoside (金丝桃苷) >= 0.50%, Quercetin, Asiaticoside & Hydrocotyloside (Chinese Pharmacopoeia standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Hyperoside activates hepatic BSEP and GST transporters, accelerating biliary bilirubin clearance and protecting hepatocyte membranes. 2. Hydrocotyloside inhibits corneal stroma VEGF, halting pterygium opacification. 3. Diuretic flush.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN FRESH PEGAGA EMBUN JAUNDICE JUICE (Jus Pegaga Embun): 50-100 g fresh plant blended with water, expressed: 50 mL with honey on empty stomach for hepatitis jaundice. Fresh expressed ophthalmic wash for corneal nebulae. Decoct: 15-30 g.
