    Cautions & Contraindications

    • RAW SEED/OIL INGESTION TOXICITY: Ingestion of raw seeds causes violent vomiting, corrosive gastritis, and hepatitis. STRICTLY FORBIDDEN RAW INTERNALLY. ABSOLUTELY CONTRAINDICATED IN PREGNANCY, renal failure, and active ulcers.

    Clinical Applications

    • Hansen's disease (adjunctive anti-mycobacterial therapy), severe refractory plaque psoriasis, recalcitrant tinea barbae/pedis, scabies, and chronic nodular eczema.

    Quality Markers

    Chaulmoogric Acid >= 30.0%, Hydnocarpic Acid >= 40.0% (Total Cyclopentenyl Fatty Acids >= 70.0%-80.0%) (GC-MS/HPLC)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Hydnocarpic and chaulmoogric cyclopentenyl fatty acids incorporate into Mycobacterium leprae lipid enzymes, sterically blocking mycolic acid elongase and causing osmotic lysis of the waxy bacterial wall. 2. Hydnocarpin inhibits fungal MDR pumps.

    Preparation & Dosage

    CRITICAL PAOZHI MANDATE: DEFATTED CHAULMOOGRA FROST (Da Feng Zi Shuang / 大风子霜): Seeds hot-pressed between absorbent papers until oil drops to 18%-20%: 0.3-0.6 g in capsules daily. Topical Chaulmoogra Ointment (30% in Tamanu oil and beeswax) for psoriasis.
