    Traditional Edict

    Helicopter Liana (Feng Che Teng / Fei Tian Qin Lao). 3-winged samara propeller fruits. Sovereign Lingnan bone-setting vine. Dredges deep wind-dampness from marrow, relaxes contracted sinews, unblocks joint arthritis, and knits fractures.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Verify botanical identity (3-winged samara fruits and fringed white-pink flowers with 1 yellow petal). Contraindicated during active pregnancy (blood-activating dynamics) and bleeding ulcers.

    Clinical Applications

    • Rheumatoid arthritis (reducing joint effusion and morning stiffness), lumbar spondylosis, sciatica, closed bone fractures, acute sprains, and chronic hepatitis.

    Quality Markers

    Mangiferin (芒果苷) >= 1.00%, Hiptagin & Friedelin (HPLC MHM standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Mangiferin suppresses IL-1b-induced synovial MMP-1/13 and blocks RANKL osteoclastogenesis, preserving articular bone and cartilage. 2. Friedelin downregulates PGE2. 3. Upregulates hepatic SOD and GSH-Px.

    Preparation & Dosage

    Dried sliced woody stem discs in decoction: 15-30 g daily. THE SOVEREIGN LINGNAN SINEW-RELAXING MEDICATED WINE (Fengcheteng Jiu): 50 g stem discs steeped with Spatholobus suberectus (Ji Xue Teng) in 1.5 L rice wine for 30 days: 15-30 mL.
