Traditional Edict

Cautions & Contraindications
- Non-toxic (lacks toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids). Patients taking synthetic anti-diabetic or anti-hypertensive drugs should monitor vitals to prevent additive hypoglycemia/hypotension.

1. Chlorogenic acid and caffeoylquinic acids inhibit hepatic glucose-6-phosphatase, blunting postprandial glycemic spikes. 2. Inhibits ACE activity and calcium influx in vascular smooth muscle, reducing arterial pressure. 3. Stimulates gastric glycoprotein synthesis, protecting against ulcers.
Preparation & Dosage
Fresh raw ulam: 3-7 leaves daily (15-30 g). Dried leaf tisane: 10-20 g daily. Standardized extract (10:1): 250-500 mg twice daily.
