    Traditional Edict

    Prostrate Globe Amaranth (Bunga Kenop Putih). Papery silvery-white cylindrical spikes. Clears toxic damp-heat, unblocks painful strangury, dissolves and expels kidney stones (Ubat Batu Karang), and calms pediatric whooping cough.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Maintain high fluid intake (>2.5 L/day) when treating urinary stones. Contraindicated as monotherapy in complete urinary tract obstruction with stones >10 mm. Contraindicated in cold watery diarrhea.

    Clinical Applications

    • Calcium oxalate nephrolithiasis/urolithiasis (inhibiting crystal nucleation and aggregation), acute bacterial cystitis, dysuria, pediatric whooping cough, and bronchial asthma.

    Quality Markers

    20-Hydroxyecdysone >= 0.20%, Aurantiamide Acetate & Potassium Salts >= 2.50% (HPLC MHM standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. High natural potassium salts and flavonoids elevate urinary pH (>6.8) and urinary citrate, dissolving calcium oxalate monohydrate (COM) stone matrices. 2. Aurantiamide acetate downregulates urothelial NF-kB. 3. Betacyanin bronchospasmolysis.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN NANYANG NEPHROLITHIASIS STONE-EXPELLING DECOCTION: 30 g dried Gomphrena celosioides boiled with 30 g Desmodium styracifolium and 15 g Orthosiphon in 1.5 L water for 30 min. Pediatric cough tea: 10-15 g with Snow Pear.

    • 1. The Sovereign Urolithiasis & Bladder Stone Triad with Desmodium styracifolium (Guang Jin Qian Cao) and Lygodium spores. 2. Pediatric Whooping Cough Decoction with Plectranthus scutellarioides (Ati-ati).
