Marine Abacus Plant (Gambir Laut). Flattened abacus bead fruits. Clears toxic damp-heat, binds intestines to halt bloody dysentery and watery diarrhea, stops internal/external bleeding, heals severe burn ulcers, and dispels toothache.

Cautions & Contraindications

Astringent tannin nature; avoid use in acute spastic constipation or dry hard stools. High safety profile in external and internal applications.

Acute bacillary/amoebic dysentery, chronic atonic diarrhea, bleeding internal hemorrhoids, hematuria, superficial thermal burn wound granulation, and periodontal toothache.

Mechanism & Phytochemistry

1. High condensed tannins cross-link and precipitate mucosal enterocyte proteins, creating an impermeable barrier that arrests fluid secretion in diarrhea. 2. Glochidone and friedelin downregulate TNF-a and COX-2. 3. Antimicrobial biofilm inhibition.

Preparation & Dosage

Dried leaves in decoction: 10-20 g daily. Dried bark/roots in decoction: 15-30 g daily. Fresh leaf poultice for burns and bleeding lacerations: 30-50 g pounded with coconut oil. Gargle for toothache: 20 g boiled.
