    Traditional Edict

    Opposite-Leaved Fig (Ara Sungsang / Dui Ye Rong). Cauliflorous fig clusters dangling from trunk. Stimulates rich milk secretion in nursing mothers, clears heat-toxin, cures dysentery, and repigments white skin patches in vitiligo.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • PHOTOSENSITIVITY PRECAUTION: Furanocoumarins cause intense UV photosensitivity; avoid excessive unmonitored midday sun exposure after topical application. Contraindicated in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Postpartum lactation deficiency (hypogalactia), vitiligo (leukoderma repigmentation via psoralens + UV), acute bacillary dysentery, chronic atopic eczema, and suppurative boils.

    Quality Markers

    Ficusin (Psoralen / Furanocoumarin) >= 0.50%, Hispidine & Phenanthroindolizidine Alkaloids (HPLC MHM standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Ficusin (psoralen) intercalates into epidermal melanocyte DNA; upon mild UVA exposure, it stimulates tyrosinase transcription, promoting melanin synthesis in vitiligo. 2. Phenanthroindolizidines stimulate pituitary prolactin for milk synthesis. 3. Antidysenteric tannins.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN MATERNAL GALACTAGOGUE SOUP (Sup Ara Sungsang): 30-50 g fresh or dried fruit syconia simmered with green papaya and fish/chicken soup for 1.5 hours. Vitiligo Topical Tincture: 20% ethanol extract applied locally before sun exposure. Decoct: 15-30 g.
