    Traditional Edict

    Rumput Sisik Naga (Yi Ye Shan Ma Huang). Prostrate creeping grass with variable-shaped leaflets forming dragon-scale carpets. Sovereign for Pediatric Diarrhea, Boils & Dysuria (Raja Cirit-Birit Budak, Kudis Bernanah & Lawas Kencing Sisik Naga): boiling the whole creeping herb into tea stops acute watery diarrhea and belly cramps in children, clears dark burning urine, while fresh crushed leaf poultices cool burning boils, insect stings, and speed skin wound closure.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Favorable clinical, pediatric, and dermatological safety profile. Safe during pregnancy and lactation in standard therapeutic doses.

    Clinical Applications

    • Pediatric acute gastroenteritis, mucoid diarrhea and enteric colic; weeping cutaneous ulcers, boils and furunculosis; acute cystitis, dysuria and urinary cloudiness; hepatic transaminase reduction in hepatitis.

    Vitexin >= 0.45%, Isovitexin >= 0.30%, Rutin >= 0.50%, Total Flavonoids >= 1.60%, Water-Soluble Extractive >= 15.0%

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    Vitexin (>= 0.45%) and rutin (>= 0.50%) inhibit bacterial enterotoxin-induced cyclic AMP elevation in enterocytes, arresting secretory diarrhea; flavonoids downregulate localized TNF-alpha and COX-2 in weeping skin ulcers, accelerating granulation and re-epithelialization; high organic minerals promote renal tubular water excretion to flush burning dysuria.

    Preparation & Dosage

    Decoction: 15 to 30 g dried whole herb daily (maximum 40 g); fresh herb in tea or poultice: 30 to 60 g. Standardized extract: 200 to 400 mg twice daily.

    • 1. The Sovereign Pediatric Diarrhea & Stomach Cramp Tisane (Sisik Naga Penawar Cirit): Desmodium heterophyllum 20 g, Chao Bai Zhu 9 g, Shan Yao 12 g, Licorice root 3 g decocted in 500 mL water for 15 min; give warm in small sips. 2. The Suppurative Boil & Eczema Poultice (Tampal Bisul Sisik Naga): Fresh Rumput Sisik Naga 30 g, Fresh Turmeric 10 g, Sea salt 1 pinch pounded into a cohesive paste; apply over boils for 30 min.
