    Tuba Merah (Ma Liu Jia Yu Teng / Hong Yu Teng). Large Malayan climbing liana with reddish-purple young shoots and high-potency milky roots. Sovereign for Scabies & Crop Pests (Raja Pembasmi Kudis Buta, Kutu Kepala & Racun Tuba Merah): pounding fresh reddish-skinned roots into milky water creates the most potent traditional acaricidial lotion for stubborn scabies and animal mange, killing parasitic mites and lice rapidly on external contact. Ingestion is strictly lethal.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • BLACK BOX LETHAL ROTENOID POISONING WARNING: Ingestion is lethal (respiratory failure and coma). Antidote: gastric lavage, activated charcoal, IV fluids, oxygen therapy. Prohibited from being poured into open rivers or ponds. Strictly contraindicated in pregnancy, lactation, infants, and over broken skin.

    Clinical Applications

    • Severe refractory scabies (Sarcoptes scabiei / Kudis Buta); pediculosis capitis and pubis (lice and nits); livestock sarcoptic and demodectic mange; organic agricultural bio-insecticide against caterpillar and aphid pests.

    Rotenone >= 5.0%-9.5%, Deguelin >= 2.5%-4.0%, Toxicarol >= 1.0%, Total Ether Extractive >= 18.0%, Moisture <= 9.0%

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    Rotenone (>= 5.0%-9.5%, highest titer among wild Derris species) and deguelin (>= 2.5%-4.0%) potently block mitochondrial respiratory chain Complex I (NADH dehydrogenase), halting cellular ATP synthesis in acarine and insect cells; lipophilic rotenoids rapidly dissolve into parasite cuticular lipids, inducing calcium influx overload and spastic paralysis; non-persistent in sunlight.

    Preparation & Dosage

    INTERNAL INGESTION: STRICTLY 0.0 g (ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED). Topical emulsion: 2% to 4% fresh root wash applied externally over scabies burrows for 20 min, then washed off with warm water and soap. Coconut oil infusion: 3% root powder in virgin coconut oil for scalp lice.

    • 1. The Sovereign Kudis Buta & Mange Eradication Lotion (Air Tuba Merah Basmi Kudis): Fresh Tuba Merah roots 20 g, Sea salt 10 g, Clean water 500 mL pounded to milky froth, strained; apply topically to scabies burrows for 20 min, then wash off. 2. The Pediculosis Scalp Liniment (Minyak Tuba Merah Basmi Kutu): Tuba Merah root powder 5 g infused in Virgin coconut oil 100 mL; massage into hair, cover with towel for 30 min, and comb out nits.
