    Traditional Edict

    Mango Mistletoe (Dedalu Api / Sangjisheng). Parasitic woody shrub with red tubular flowers. Tonifies Liver and Kidney, strengthens sinews and bones, lowers blood pressure, calms the fetus in pregnancy (An Tai), and treats arthritis.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • HOST TREE TOXICITY GATEKEEPER RULE: NEVER HARVEST MISTLETOE GROWING ON TOXIC HOST TREES (Oleander, Croton, Nux-vomica). Harvest from safe fruit trees (Mango, Citrus). Safe in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Stage 1/2 essential hypertension (ACE inhibition and vasodilation), threatened miscarriage (uterine quiescence), postmenopausal osteoporosis, chronic knee osteoarthritis, and breast/cervical cancer adjuvant.

    Quality Markers

    Quercetin >= 0.50%, Quercitrin, Rutin, Avicularin & Betulinic Acid (HPLC MHM standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Quercitrin and rutin competitively inhibit Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE) while upregulating eNOS vasodilation, lowering blood pressure. 2. Quercetin downregulates myometrial oxytocin receptors for fetal stabilization. 3. Betulinic acid apoptosis in cancer lines.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN NANYANG ANTIHYPERTENSIVE MISTLETOE TEA (Teh Dedalu): 15-30 g dried sliced stems/leaves steeped with red dates daily. Classical Sangjisheng Sweet Egg Soup (Sangjisheng Dan Cha): 30 g simmered with eggs, lotus seeds, and brown sugar.
