    Cautions & Contraindications

    • BLACK BOX LETHAL ANTICHOLINERGIC TOXIDROME WARNING: Overdose causes fatal delirium, dilated pupils, hyperthermia, coma, and respiratory arrest. Antidote: immediately administer Physostigmine salicylate (1.0 to 2.0 mg IV) or Pilocarpine nitrate. Absolutely contraindicated in glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, tachycardia, hypertension, and pregnancy.

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    Scopolamine (>= 0.20%-0.40%) competitively blocks central and peripheral muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (M1-M5); centrally it crosses the BBB to inhibit cortical M1 receptors, producing sedation, anterograde amnesia, and surgical analgesia; peripherally it blocks M3 receptors in airway smooth muscle and submucosal glands (IC50 = 0.85 uM), producing rapid bronchodilation and halting secretions.

    Preparation & Dosage

    Dried flowers in decoction: STRICTLY 0.15 to 0.30 g (150 to 300 mg) per dose (absolute maximum 0.60 g daily). Asthmatic cigarette inhalation: STRICTLY 0.10 to 0.20 g dried shreds smoked (1-2 puffs). Purified scopolamine hydrobromide: 0.3 to 0.5 mg. Raw seeds strictly forbidden for unguided use.

The Sovereign Acute Asthmatic Spasm Relief Powder (Yang Jin Hua Ping Chuan San / 洋金花平喘止咳散): Yang Jin Hua 0.2 g, Pi Pa Ye 1.0 g, Licorice root 0.5 g ground to fine powder; take 0.3 g with warm water at onset of wheezing. 2. The Severe Traumatic Agony & Sprain Deadening Poultice (Tampal Kebas Sakit Kecubung): Fresh Kecubung Putih leaves 10 g, Fresh Ginger 10 g, Virgin coconut oil 5 mL pounded into a paste; apply strictly over intact skin (never open cuts).
