    Traditional Edict

    Prostrate Pastureweed / False Achyranthes (Rumput Jarum / Ping Wo Bei Xian / Jia Niu Xi / Di Niu Xi). Prostrate rooting stems with hooked prickly burr heads. Sovereign for Damp-Heat Dysentery & Urological Stones: boiled herb tea terminates bacillary dysentery in 24h, flushes urinary calculi, unblocks postpartum lochia, clears pharyngitis.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • CONTRAINDICATED IN PREGNANCY (potent emmenagogue and uterine-contracting properties). Safe during lactation and postpartum.

    Clinical Applications

    • Acute bacillary dysentery and infectious mucoid diarrhea (Shigella and E. coli membrane disruption via Cyasterone >= 0.20% and Tannins), urinary tract lithiasis and dysuria (renal calcium oxalate dissolution), and postpartum lochial retention.

    Quality Markers

    Cyasterone (杯苋甾酮) >= 0.20%, Total Phytoecdysteroids >= 0.60% & Total Flavonoids >= 2.00% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Cyasterone and phytoecdysteroids stimulate protein synthesis in gut enterocytes and disrupt bacterial cell membranes. 2. Achyranthine relaxes ureteral smooth muscle and stimulates aquaresis.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE RUMPUT JARUM DYSENTERY & LITHOTRIPTIC TISANE: 15 to 30 g dried whole herb boiled in 500 mL water for 20 min; drink warm twice daily (stops dysenteric colic in 24h). Postpartum lochia tea: 20 g boiled with ginger. (DO NOT USE IN PREGNANCY).
