    Traditional Edict

    White Zedoary / Round Zedoary (Temu Putih / Bai E Zhu / Peng E Mao / Rhizoma Curcumae Zedoariae). Pale yellowish-white camphoraceous rhizome with lavender-tipped flower spikes. Sovereign of Ancient Bencao for Cervical Dysplasia (HPV) & Uterine Fibroids: furanodiene selectively suppresses HPV E6/E7 oncogenes, dissolves organized pelvic fibrin clots, and shrinks ovarian cysts.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • BLACK BOX PREGNANCY CONTRAINDICATION: Strong blood-breaking, uterine-contracting, and abortifacient properties; ABSOLUTELY CONTRAINDICATED IN PREGNANCY. Contraindicated in active menorrhagia.

    Clinical Applications

    • Cervical HPV dysplasia (CIN I/II) and cervical erosion (HPV E6/E7 oncogene suppression and apoptotic necrosis via Furanodiene >= 0.50% and Zederone), uterine leiomyoma (fibroids), ovarian cysts, and gastric carcinoma.

    Quality Markers

    Furanodiene (呋喃二烯) >= 0.50%, Zederone >= 0.30%, Curdione >= 0.35% & Essential Oil >= 2.00% v/w (HPLC/GC-MS standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Furanodiene and zederone downregulate HPV E6/E7 oncoproteins, restoring p53 and Rb tumor suppressor expression. 2. Curdione activates t-PA, dissolving pelvic fibrin clots and shrinking fibroids.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE TEMU PUTIH CERVICAL DYSPLASIA & FIBROID DECOCTION: 10 to 15 g vinegar-processed white zedoary rhizomes (Cu Zhi Temu Putih) boiled with Hedyotis diffusa (30 g) and Dan Shen (15 g) in 700 mL water for 25 min; drink warm twice daily across 3 menstrual cycles. (STRICTLY FORBIDDEN IN PREGNANCY).
