    Traditional Edict

    Guangxi Curcuma / Gui E Zhu (Temu Kwangsi / Guangxi E Zhu / Gui Yu Jin / Rhizoma Curcumae Kwangsiensis). Dao-di zedoary yielding both rhizome (E Zhu) and tuber (Yu Jin). Sovereign for Breaking Pelvic Masses & Endometriosis: activates tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA), shrinks uterine fibroids, resolves hepatosplenomegaly.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • BLACK BOX PREGNANCY CONTRAINDICATION: Strong blood-breaking and emmenagogue properties; ABSOLUTELY CONTRAINDICATED IN PREGNANCY. Contraindicated in active gastrointestinal bleeding.

    Clinical Applications

    • Uterine leiomyoma (fibroids), ovarian endometrioma, and chronic pelvic inflammatory masses (t-PA fibrinolysis and VEGF suppression via Curdione >= 0.50% and Curcumol), cervical dysplasia CIN, and hepatosplenomegaly.

    Quality Markers

    Curdione (莪术二酮) >= 0.50%, Curcumol >= 0.35%, Furanodiene >= 0.30% & Essential Oil >= 2.00% v/w (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Curdione and curcumol upregulate endothelial t-PA, dissolving organized fibrin meshes in pelvic fibroids. 2. Downregulates VEGF and MMP-9 in ectopic endometrial tissue, halting angiogenic growth.

    Preparation & Dosage

    VINEGAR-PROCESSED GUI E ZHU (Cu Zhi Guangxi E Zhu): Sliced rhizomes moistened with rice vinegar and stir-fried to golden; directs mass-dissolving power to Uterus and Liver. Decoction: 6 to 12 g daily. (CONTRAINDICATED IN PREGNANCY).
