Traditional Edict

Breaks stubborn blood stasis and disperses accumulation, regulates Qi to relieve severe pain, warms middle burner to dissolve food fullness, and dispels cold asthma. Sovereign blue-black rhizome for severe pelvic masses and dysmenorrhea.

Cautions & Contraindications

Intensely blue-black interior. STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED in pregnancy (potent blood-breaking emmenagogue risk of miscarriage) and active bleeding disorders.

Severe dysmenorrhea, pelvic endometriosis, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), ovarian and breast carcinoma adjuvant therapy, bronchial asthma, and hematomas.

Curzerenone (莪术二烯酮) >= 0.50%, (1R)-Camphor & ar-Turmerone (GC-MS/HPLC MHM standard)

Mechanism & Phytochemistry

1. Curzerenone and ar-turmerone selectively inhibit COX-2 and thromboxane A2 synthase, halting platelet aggregation and resolving microvascular stasis. 2. Induces apoptosis in ovarian (SKOV3) and breast (MCF-7) cancer cells via Bax/Bcl-2 modulation. 3. Camphor relaxes tracheal smooth muscle.

Preparation & Dosage

Sliced dried rhizomes decocted 15-20 minutes: 3-9 g daily. Vinegar-Fried Kunyit Hitam (Cu Heijianghuang - parched with 10% rice vinegar) guides blood-breaking power to Liver channel for endometriosis.
