    Traditional Edict

    Pink and Blue Ginger / Black Turmeric (Temu Hitam / Temu Erang / Lan Xin Jiang / Rhizoma Curcumae Aeruginosae). Blue-hearted rhizome with red central leaf stripe. Sovereign of Malay Jamu (Temu Hitam) & Lingnan Bencao: breaks abdominal blood masses (Zheng Jia), expels intestinal roundworms and pinworms, stimulates appetite, and cleanses stagnant postpartum lochial blood.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • PREGNANCY CONTRAINDICATION (POTENT BLOOD-BREAKING DYNAMICS): ABSOLUTELY CONTRAINDICATED IN PREGNANCY. Highly revered and indicated during postpartum confinement and lactation.

    Clinical Applications

    • Abdominal blood stasis masses, uterine fibroids, and hepatosplenomegaly (caspase-3/9 apoptosis and microvascular fibrinolysis via Curcumenol >= 0.60%), intestinal ascariasis and pinworms, and postpartum lochial retention.

    Quality Markers

    Curcumenol (莪术醇) >= 0.60%, Zedoarondiol >= 0.40%, Aerugidiol & Essential Oil >= 1.50% v/w (HPLC/GC-MS standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Curcumenol and zedoarondiol inhibit uterine fibroid and cancer cell proliferation, cleaving PARP and inducing apoptosis. 2. Volatile sesquiterpenes paralyze neuromuscular transmission in Ascaris lumbricoides.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE ROYAL MALAYSIAN JAMU TEMU HITAM CONFINEMENT & ANTHELMINTIC TONIC: 10 to 15 g dried sliced blue-hearted rhizomes boiled with Curcuma xanthorrhiza (Temu Lawak, 10 g) and palm sugar in 500 mL water for 20 min; drink warm twice daily (expels lochia, worms, and abdominal gas). Oncology decoction: 15 g.
