    Traditional Edict

    Palm Grass / Quail's Palm (Kelapa Puyuh / Da Ye Xian Mao / Chuan Zi Cao / Curculigo capitulata). Fan-pleated palm-like leaves with nodding golden flower heads. Sovereign for Kidney Yang & Lumbar Pain: boiled knotty rhizome tonifies Kidney Yang, stimulates testosterone and bone Runx2, unblocks arthritic joints.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Characterized by accordion-pleated palm-like leaves and a dense nodding head of yellow flowers. High endocrinological, orthopedic, and clinical safety profile. Safe in lactation; moderate doses in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Kidney-Yang deficiency and chronic lumbar cold weakness (HPG axis stimulation and testosterone elevation via Curculigoside >= 0.15%), degenerative osteoporosis and osteoarthritis (osteoblast Runx2 mineralization), and closed contusions.

    Quality Markers

    Curculigoside (仙茅苷) >= 0.15%, Orcinol Glucoside >= 0.20% & Total Phenolic Glycosides >= 1.80% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Curculigoside upregulates StAR protein and 3beta-HSD in testicular Leydig cells (p<0.01), surging testosterone. 2. Orcinol glucoside stimulates osteoblast ALP and inhibits osteoclast RANKL.

    Preparation & Dosage

    KELAPA PUYUH ROYAL LUMBAR TONIC SOUP: Simmer 15 to 20 g dried sliced rhizomes with Eucommia (Du Zhong, 15 g) and black chicken in 700 mL water for 45 min; drink warm daily (strengthens lower back and knees). Wine-processed rhizome: 10 to 15 g.
