    Traditional Edict

    Pumpkin Seed / Cushaw Seed (Labu Merah / Nan Gua Zi / Fan Gua / Semen Cucurbitae). Flat white-margined ovate seeds. Supreme Non-Toxic Anthelmintic: raw seeds contain cucurbitine, which paralyzes tapeworm segments (Taenia), expelling the entire worm with scolex when combined with Bing Lang, while sterols shrink BPH prostate.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Seeds must be eaten raw or very lightly dried (heavy roasting denatures thermolabile cucurbitine). Exceptional clinical, pediatric, maternal, and geriatric safety profile. Safe in all ages.

    Clinical Applications

    • Intestinal tapeworm infestations (Taenia solium, Taenia saginata) and schistosomiasis (neuromuscular paralysis via Cucurbitine >= 0.50%), benign prostatic hyperplasia BPH and urinary hesitancy (5alpha-reductase inhibition via Delta-7-sterols), and postpartum hypogalactia.

    Cucurbitine (南瓜子氨酸) >= 0.50%, Delta-7-Sterols >= 0.40%, Beta-Sitosterol >= 0.30% & Fixed Oil >= 40.0% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Cucurbitine acts as an atypical amino acid that selectively paralyzes the neuromuscular junction in tapeworms, detaching the scolex. 2. Delta-7-sterols inhibit 5alpha-reductase, reducing DHT-induced prostate stromal growth.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN TAPEWORM EXPULSION PROTOCOL (Nan Gua Zi & Bing Lang): Ingest 60 to 120 g fresh raw peeled pumpkin seeds thoroughly chewed on empty stomach in morning; 2 hours later, take 60 g Areca catechu (Bing Lang) decoction followed by magnesium sulfate (expels entire intact tapeworm). BPH therapy: 30 g daily.
