    Huangguo Cryptocarya / Yellow Cinnamon (Medang Kuning / Huang Guo Hou Ke Gui / Huang Rou Gui). Golden aromatic wood with yellow ribbed drupes. Sovereign for Spleen-Stomach Cold & Maternal Confinement: boiled bark tea dispels cold gastric cramps, warms depleted postpartum mothers, and washes away skin infections.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Aromatic volatility directive (avoid boiling in open pots exceeding 30 min). High gastrointestinal, maternal, and clinical safety profile. Safe in lactation; moderate doses in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Spleen-Stomach cold cramping pain, flatulent dyspepsia, and acute cold diarrhea (visceral smooth muscle relaxation and H+/K+-ATPase modulation via Cryptocaryone >= 0.50%), postpartum confinement baths (Mandian Nifas), and cutaneous wound disinfection.

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Cryptocaryone dihydrochalcone-pyrone blocks visceral L-type Ca2+ channels (IC50=1.8 uM), relaxing gastrointestinal spasms. 2. Phenylpropanoid essential oil disrupts cell membranes in Staphylococcus and Candida.

    Preparation & Dosage

    MEDANG KUNING STOMACH-WARMING TISANE: 10 to 15 g dried sliced bark boiled with Bentong ginger (10 g) and Chen Pi (6 g) in 500 mL water for 20 min; drink warm twice daily (relieves stomach cramps in 15 min). Postpartum confinement bath: 50 g bark and leaves boiled in 5.0 L water.
