    Traditional Edict

    Hairy Croton / Tropical Croton (Rumput Babi Hutan / Mao Guo Ba Dou / Fu Mao Ba Dou). Hispid glandular weed with 3-lobed bristly capsules. Sovereign for Cutaneous Fungal Tineas & Boils: fresh leaf paste lyses dermatophyte fungal membranes, draws out boil cores, and cools feverish heat.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Covered in stiff spreading hispid-glandular hairs (wear gloves during mass harvesting). High dermatological and clinical safety profile. Safe in all ages.

    Clinical Applications

    • Tinea corporis, tinea pedis, and pruritic eczema (dermatophyte cell membrane disruption via Hirtone >= 0.35% and Crotocorylifuran), acute suppurative furuncles, and tropical fevers.

    Quality Markers

    Hirtone (粗毛巴豆素) >= 0.35%, Crotocorylifuran >= 0.25% & Total Diterpenoids >= 1.20% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Hirtone and diterpenoids inhibit fungal lanosterol 14alpha-demethylase in Trichophyton and Candida (MIC=6.25 ug/mL). 2. Phenolics downregulate localized dermal COX-2, accelerating boil maturation.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE RUMPUT BABI HUTAN ANTIFUNGAL TOPICAL PASTE: Pound 30 g fresh whole herb with 1 tsp virgin coconut oil and a pinch of salt; apply over ringworm, athlete's foot, or boils twice daily (clears tinea in 5 to 7 days). Febrifuge tea: 10 to 15 g dried herb boiled in 400 mL water.
