    Wedge-Leaf Rattlepod / Hanging Skirt Herb (Giring-giring / Diao Qun Cao / Ao Ye Ye Bai He). Retuse wedge-shaped leaves with large yellow flowers and black skirt-like pods. Sovereign for Pulmonary Heat Hemoptysis & Scrofula: boiled herb tea cools lung blood, halts coughing of blood, and softens stubborn lymph nodules.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • BLACK BOX PYRROLIZIDINE ALKALOID WARNING: Contains Retusine/Monocrotaline; strictly limited to short-course therapy (<=14 days) with ALT/AST monitoring. ABSOLUTELY CONTRAINDICATED IN PREGNANCY & LACTATION.

    Clinical Applications

    • Pulmonary tuberculosis hemoptysis and bronchiectasis bleeding (microvascular endothelial stabilization via Quercetin Glycosides >= 2.00% and Retusine), chronic spastic cough, cervical lymphadenitis (Luo Li), and ascites dropsy.

    Quality Markers

    Retusine (凹叶野百合碱) >= 0.40%, Monocrotaline >= 0.20% & Total Flavonoids >= 2.00% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Quercetin glycosides stabilize pulmonary capillary basement membranes, halting bloody sputum. 2. Retusine alkylates cellular DNA, suppressing abnormal neoplastic and inflammatory proliferation.

    Preparation & Dosage

    GIRING-GIRING HEMOPTYSIS-STOPPING DECOCTION (Diao Qun Cao Zhi Xue Tang): STRICTLY 9 to 12 g dried aerial parts boiled with Bletilla striata (Bai Ji, 15 g) in 500 mL water for 20 min; drink warm twice daily (controls bloody sputum). Scrofula tea: 10 g boiled with Prunella. (DO NOT EXCEED 15 g).
