    Traditional Edict

    Smooth Crotalaria / Striped Rattlepod (Kacang Rattle / Zhu Shi Dou / Wen Xian Zhu Shi Dou). 3-foliolate leaves with yellow striped flowers and loud rattling pods. Sovereign for Damp-Heat Dysentery & Squamous Tumors: boiled herb tea halts bacillary dysentery, shrinks scrofulous nodules, inhibits squamous tumor mitosis.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • BLACK BOX PYRROLIZIDINE ALKALOID HEPATOTOXICITY WARNING: Overdose causes Hepatic Veno-Occlusive Disease (HVOD); mandatory ALT/AST monitoring for use >14 days. STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED IN PREGNANCY & LACTATION.

    Clinical Applications

    • Acute bacillary dysentery and infectious enteritis (Shigella flexneri membrane lysis via Chrysoeriol and Tannins), squamous cell carcinoma and cervical dysplasia oncology adjuvant (G2/M mitotic arrest via Mucronatine >= 0.30%), and rheumatoid arthritis.

    Quality Markers

    Mucronatine & Usaramine (猪屎豆碱) >= 0.50%, Chrysoeriol >= 0.40% & Total PAs >= 0.30%-0.60% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Mucronatine is converted in hepatic CYP3A4 into pyrrolic alkylating metabolites, cross-linking DNA in tumor cells (IC50=4.2 uM). 2. Chrysoeriol downregulates synovial NF-kB and MMP-3.

    Preparation & Dosage

    SOVEREIGN ONCOLOGY ADJUVANT DECOCTION: STRICTLY 9 to 15 g dried aerial parts boiled with Hedyotis diffusa (15 g) in 600 mL water for 25 min; take warm twice daily under oncology supervision for a 14-day cycle. Dysentery tea: 10 g boiled with ginger. (DO NOT EXCEED 20 g).
