    Traditional Edict

    Ti Plant / Jenjuang (Jenjuang / Zhu Jiao / Hong Zhu / Hong Ye Tie Shu). Crimson-purple sword-like foliage. Sovereign for Cooling Blood & Halting Hemorrhage: boiled leaf tea constricts bleeding microvessels in pulmonary hemoptysis, hematuria, dysenteric bloody stools, and dysfunctional uterine bleeding (Beng Lou).

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Blood-cooling hemostatic nature; discontinue once bleeding is controlled to prevent blood stasis. Safe during lactation; use moderate doses in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Functional uterine bleeding (Beng Lou), menorrhagia, and lochial hemorrhage (endometrial precapillary vasoconstriction via Fruticosides >= 0.80%), pulmonary tuberculosis hemoptysis, bacillary dysentery with bloody stool, and protective spiritual baths.

    Quality Markers

    Fruticosides A & B (甾体皂苷) >= 0.80%, Cyanidin-3-rutinoside >= 1.50% & Total Flavonoids >= 2.20% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Fruticoside steroidal saponins and anthocyanins stimulate localized platelet thrombus formation and precapillary vasoconstriction. 2. Downregulates colonic TNF-a and COX-2 in dysentery.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN TI PLANT HEMOSTATIC DECOCTION: 15 to 30 g dried crimson leaves boiled with Xian He Cao (15 g) and Ce Bai Ye (10 g) in 600 mL water for 20 min; taken warm twice daily (controls uterine and gastrointestinal bleeding). Spiritual protective bath: 7 leaves boiled in water.
