    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Contains trace cardenolides in seeds (avoid excessive seed megadoses). High respiratory, demulcent, and pediatric safety profile. Safe during lactation; moderate doses in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Dry parched cough, acute bronchitis, and pharyngitis (mucociliary demulcent coating via Mucilage >= 8.0%), acute cystitis with dysuria, and functional dyspepsia.

    Quality Markers

    Water-Soluble Mucilage Polysaccharides >= 8.0%, Corchoroside A >= 0.30% & Capsularin >= 0.40% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. High water-soluble arabinogalactan mucilage forms a demulcent hydrogel over irritated pharyngeal mucosa, reducing cough sensitivity. 2. Flavonoids stimulate renal aquaresis and flush bladder bacteria.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN JUTE KECIL PHARYNGEAL SOOTHING TISANE: 15 to 25 g dried leaves and capsules boiled in 500 mL water for 15 min; add 1 tsp raw honey and sip warm throughout the day (soothes dry cough). Cystitis tea: 20 g boiled with Che Qian Cao.
