    Flaxleaf Fleabane / Hairy Fleabane (Rumput Tahi Babi Hutan / Xiang Si Cao / Mei Zhou Jia Peng). Grayish-hairy linear leaves with cream-white flower heads. Sovereign for Bacillary Dysentery & Fiery Toothache: boiled whole-herb tea destroys enteric pathogens to halt bloody diarrhea in 24h, chewing leaves relieves toothache.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Pungent carrot-like herbal aroma. High clinical, gastrointestinal, and dental safety profile. Safe during lactation; moderate internal doses in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Acute and chronic bacillary dysentery and infectious enteritis (pathogen membrane disruption via Matricaria Ester >= 0.45%), burning hematuria and urinary tract infections, and acute dental pulpitis toothache.

    Quality Markers

    Matricaria Ester (母菊酯) >= 0.45%, Lachnophyllum Ester >= 0.35% & Total Polyacetylenes >= 1.20% (GC-MS/HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Polyacetylenic matricaria and lachnophyllum esters disrupt microbial cell membrane permeability in Shigella and E. coli (MIC=6.25 ug/mL). 2. Flavonoids downregulate dental pulpal COX-2.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN FLAXLEAF FLEABANE DYSENTERY DECOCTION: 15 to 25 g dried whole herb boiled with Portulaca oleracea (15 g) and ginger (10 g) in 600 mL water for 20 min; taken warm twice daily (halts diarrhea in 24h). Toothache chewing: 5 g fresh leaves masticated over aching tooth.
