    Cautions & Contraindications

    • High alkaloidal density (nearly double Arabica). Doses >500 mg caffeine cause tachycardia, anxiety, and tremors. Limit in pregnancy to <200 mg daily. Separate from oral iron pills by 2 hours.

    • Cerebral lethargy, somnolence, and postprandial brain fog (central adenosine A1/A2A antagonism via Caffeine >= 2.20%-3.50%), vascular migraine headaches, and metabolic obesity (adipocyte lipolysis and PDE inhibition via Chlorogenic acids >= 7.0%).

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. High caffeine (2.2-3.5%) competitively blocks adenosine A1/A2A receptors (IC50=1.2 uM), surging dopamine and norepinephrine. 2. Non-selectively inhibits PDE, elevating cAMP and activating hormone-sensitive lipase.

    Preparation & Dosage

    TRADITIONAL NANYANG HAINANESE BUTTER ROAST (Kopi-O Paozhi): Robusta beans roasted with butter and caramelized cane sugar at 220°C (softens bitterness into velvety body). Brew: 5 to 10 g ground coffee in 200 mL hot water via cloth sock (Kopi Tarik); 1 to 2 cups daily (total caffeine <400 mg).
