    Traditional Edict

    Melur Jawa (Fragrant Clerodendrum). Double-flowered rose-like white-pink bouquets with sweet perfume. Clears pelvic damp-heat, astringes and stops morbid vaginal leucorrhea (Keputihan), unblocks joint rheumatism, lowers blood pressure.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Pungent foliage odor dissipates upon boiling. Contraindicated in Spleen-Stomach deficiency cold diarrhea without damp-heat. Caution in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Chronic infectious/non-infectious leucorrhea (vaginitis discharge), pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), rheumatoid arthritis (joint swelling reduction), Stage 1 hypertension, and bleeding hemorrhoids.

    Quality Markers

    Verbascoside (Acteoside) >= 1.00%, Clerodendroside & Hispidulin (HPLC MHM standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Verbascoside inhibits iNOS and COX-2 in pelvic/cervical epithelial cells, resolving mucosal hyperemia and drying excessive vaginal discharge. 2. Clerodendroside downregulates 5-LOX in synovium. 3. Endothelial eNOS vasorelaxation.

    Preparation & Dosage

    Dried sliced root discs (Molitou) in decoction: 15-30 g daily (up to 45 g in chronic leucorrhea). THE SOVEREIGN LINGNAN LEUCORRHEA STEW: 30 g roots simmered with lean pork, Smilax glabra, and Coix seeds for 2 hours. External sitz bath: 30-50 g.
