    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Raw unfermented leaves have an acrid sulfur bite (always ferment into Jeruk Maman or cook thoroughly before internal consumption). Exceptional culinary, maternal, and postpartum safety profile.

    Clinical Applications

    • Postpartum Spleen-Stomach cold, anorexia, and meteorism (probiotic gut barrier restoration and TRPA1 activation via Glucocapparin >= 1.50% and Lactic acid >= 1.80%), chronic rheumatic arthralgia, and acute suppurative otitis media.

    Quality Markers

    Glucocapparin (甲基芥子油苷) >= 1.50%, Rutin >= 1.20% & Lactic Acid in Fermented Jeruk >= 1.80% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Myrosinase hydrolyzes glucocapparin into methyl isothiocyanate (MITC), activating TRPA1 and downregulating TNF-a (IC50=2.4 uM). 2. Lactic fermentation seals gut mucosal barriers.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE TRADITIONAL NEGERI SEMBILAN JERUK MAMAN PROTOCOL: 500 g fresh wilted leaves kneaded with 25 g sea salt and 50 g cooked rice, fermented in a jar for 3 to 5 days; consume 30 to 50 g with meals (warms stomach). Otitis media ear drops: 1 to 2 drops warm fresh expressed leaf juice in ear canal.
