    Calamansi / Philippine Lime (Limau Kasturi / Jin Ju / Si Ji Ju). Round thin-skinned orange-green acidic fruit. Emperor of Southeast Asian Beverage Medicine (Air Limau Kasturi Asam Boi): fresh juice with preserved plum clears tonsillitis, dissolves sticky throat mucus, quenches thirst, blocks glycemic spikes.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • High natural acidity; avoid consuming excessive undiluted juice on an empty stomach in active peptic ulcer disease. Exceptional clinical, pediatric, dietary, and maternal safety profile. Highly recommended in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and vocal strain (mucociliary clearance and throat anti-inflammatory action via Hesperidin >= 2.50% and Citric acid), postprandial glycemic spikes (alpha-glucosidase inhibition via Nobiletin), and summer heatstroke.

    Quality Markers

    Hesperidin (橙皮苷) >= 2.50%, Nobiletin >= 0.40%, Citric Acid >= 5.0%-7.0% & Vitamin C >= 35.0 mg/100g (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Citric acid and hesperidin reduce sputum viscosity and stimulate salivary secretions. 2. Nobiletin and tangeretin downregulate hepatic gluconeogenesis and surge GLUT4 glucose uptake.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE LEGENDARY MALAYSIAN ASAM BOI CALAMANSI TONIC (Air Limau Kasturi Asam Boi / 咸梅酸柑水): Squeeze juice of 4 to 6 fresh Limau Kasturi into 300 mL warm or iced water with 1 dried salted sour plum (Asam Boi) and 1 tsp raw honey; sip slowly (extinguishes sore throat in minutes). Daily glycemic drink: 3 limes in water.
