    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. High citric acid reduces sputum viscosity and stimulates serous bronchial secretions. 2. D-Limonene and hesperidin downregulate airway IL-1b and TNF-a, halting coughing spasms.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE LEGENDARY MALAYSIAN BATUK KICAP COUGH ELIXIR (Ubat Batuk Kicap & Limau Nipis / 青柠黑酱油止咳方): Squeeze juice of 1 fresh Limau Nipis (15 mL) into 1 tbsp high-grade dark soy sauce (Kicap Pekat) and 1 tsp honey; sip slowly without water 3 times daily (liquefies phlegm in minutes).
