    Knits fractured bones, reconnects ruptured sinews, activates blood to dispel traumatic stasis, fortifies bone density. Sovereign biological bone glue in Ayurveda and Nanyang for fractures and sprains.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Never chew raw unblanched fresh stems (causes oral burning/edema). Contraindicated in pregnancy (mild uterine-toning phytosteroids).

    Clinical Applications

    • Closed bone fractures (accelerates radiological callus bridging by 30-50%), postmenopausal osteoporosis/osteopenia, athletic ligament tears, osteoarthritis, and metabolic weight loss.

    Quality Markers

    Ketosteroids (3-Ketosteroids) >= 2.50% & Resveratrol via HPLC/HPTLC (MHM standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Ketosteroids act as natural SARMs, stimulating mesenchymal stem cells into osteoblasts, elevating ALP, and accelerating collagenous callus synthesis. 2. b-Sitosterol and resveratrol upregulate Runx2 and OPG, downregulating RANKL to halt bone loss. 3. Suppresses COX-2 and 5-LOX.

    Preparation & Dosage

    CRITICAL PAOZHI: Fresh stems contain needle oxalate raphides; MUST BE STEAM-BLANCHED or stir-fried in sesame oil/ghee before oral use. Decoct: 10-20 g. Standardized ketosteroid extract: 300-600 mg.
