Sovereign for Deforming Rheumatism & Traumatic Bone Sprains: boiled vine tea unblocks stiff joints, downregulates synovial COX-2, resolves hematomas.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Fresh stems contain mild calcium oxalate raphides (cook or dry before ingestion). High clinical, musculoskeletal, and joint safety profile. Safe during lactation; moderate doses in pregnancy.

    Clinical Applications

    • Deforming rheumatoid arthritis and joint effusion (synovial iNOS and COX-2 suppression via Resveratrol >= 0.30% and Piceid), closed bone fractures and ligamentous sprains, and cutaneous carbuncles.

    Quality Markers

    Resveratrol (白藜芦醇) >= 0.30%, Piceid >= 0.50%, Ampelopsin & Total Stilbenes >= 1.50% (HPLC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Resveratrol and piceid suppress synovial NF-kB activation and downregulate PGE2 (IC50=3.2 uM). 2. Stilbene dimers stimulate osteoblast differentiation in healing bone calluses.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN ASSAM TREEBINE RHEUMATIC ARTHRITIS DECOCTION: 15 to 25 g dried stem slices boiled with Sang Ji Sheng (15 g) and ginger (10 g) in 600 mL water for 20 min; taken warm twice daily after meals (relieves joint pain). Closed fracture poultice: 50 g fresh stems pounded with rice wine.
