    Padang Cinnamon / Indonesian Cassia (Kayu Manis Padang / Yin Xiang / Guangdong Rou Gui). Coral-pink leaf flushes with tripli-nerved leaves and rolled quills. Sovereign for Spleen-Stomach Chill & Bloating: sweet-spicy bark tea warms digestive cold, expels trapped abdominal gas, halts watery diarrhea.

    Cautions & Contraindications

    • Contains moderate coumarin (avoid mega-dosing >15 g daily in severe liver disease). Thinner and milder than C. cassia. Safe in dietary amounts in pregnancy; avoid mega-doses.

    Clinical Applications

    • Functional dyspepsia, epigastric cold pain, and meteorism (TRPA1 sensory channel activation and motility stimulation via Cinnamaldehyde >= 1.50%), cold-damp diarrhea, and postpartum confinement shivering.

    Quality Markers

    Cinnamaldehyde (桂皮醛) >= 1.50%, Coumarin <= 0.80% & Volatile Essential Oil >= 1.00% v/w (HPLC/GC standard)

    Mechanism & Phytochemistry

    1. Cinnamaldehyde activates TRPA1 sensory channels, surging gastric mucosal microcirculation and peristalsis. 2. Type-A procyanidins enhance peripheral glucose disposal.

    Preparation & Dosage

    THE SOVEREIGN PADANG CINNAMON DIGESTIVE TISANE: 5 to 8 g crushed bark quills steeped with fresh ginger (10 g) and Chen Pi (5 g) in 400 mL boiling water for 10 min; drink warm after meals (relieves gas and stomach chill). Traumatic bruising poultice: bark powder with warm rice wine.
